Russian Economic Development Deputy Minister A. E. Likhachev said at the opening ceremony that the branch would meet the increasing need to develop Russian business in the south of Vietnam.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Le Duong Quang emphasized that the Ministry of Industry and Trade would strongly support the branch to contribute to promoting trade between Vietnam and Russia and Russian investment projects in Vietnam.

In the near future the branch will update information, business opportunities and local potential, organize Russian business tours to the south of Vietnam, and take part in seminars and workshops on economic and trade cooperation between the two countries to be held in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces.

Statistics from the Russian Trade Representative Office indicate that more than 60 percent of Vietnamese exports to Russia were made in the south of Vietnam, and 100 percent of seafood, rice, cashew and natural rubber were shipped from southern ports. Vietnam’s southern provinces have also received attention from Russian investors and tourists./.
